Baxter Adventure Books
Stories children enjoy.
Conversations families need.
Illustrated children’s books about experiences that can feel scary, unfamiliar or overwhelming, with questions to read and talk about together.
Why Baxter?
Baxter is a real, lovable Siberian husky. In these stories, he experiences something unfamiliar or uncomfortable first. Then “Baxter Wants to Know” invites children to share their own questions, worries and ideas.
My hope is that talking with a familiar storybook friend makes it easier for a child to begin a conversation with a parent or trusted grown-up. Children can answer by talking, pointing, drawing or taking their time.
For parents and caregivers
Picture books for conversations about childhood anxiety and sensory sensitivities
A first school day. A buzzing dentist’s tool. A missing comfort blanket. Baxter gives families a familiar character to talk with about moments that can feel like a lot.
Families exploring autism, social anxiety or sensory sensitivities can choose children’s stories by situation and read at their child’s pace. Every child is different; choose the questions and ways of answering that suit your family.

A clinical psychologist has reviewed the series, and published child-development, pediatric, child-life, sensory and family guidance has informed its development. The books have not yet gone to print.
I’m inviting direct professional feedback before the printed editions are finalized. The stories, questions and guidance can still change. A professional review is not clinical certification or an institutional endorsement.
